Workspaces and roles
How workspaces map to sites, and what each member role can do.
A workspace is a single site. It owns its posts, categories, tags, media, theme, domain, members, and billing. People are invited into a workspace with a role that controls what they can do.
Roles at a glance
- Viewer — read-only access to content.
- Writer — create and edit drafts.
- Editor — write, publish, and manage taxonomy.
- Admin — manage members, API keys, and all content.
- Owner — full control, including workspace and site settings, billing, and the custom domain.
Roles are enforced everywhere — in the dashboard UI, the API, and at the database level — so a member can never act beyond their role.
Frequently asked questions
Who can change the blog's domain or theme?
Only the workspace Owner can change site settings such as the subdomain, custom domain, and theme. Editors and admins manage content; owners manage the site and billing.
Can one person be in multiple workspaces?
Yes. You can belong to many workspaces with a different role in each, and switch between them from the sidebar.
